WoW Burning Crusade Classic: Why The Dark Portal Pass Isn't Worth It

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic is offering a paid character boost for the first time, leaving players with the question: is it worth it? The Dark Portal Pass, as the character boost is called, is the first time a time-saving service has been offered in WoW Classic, and there's been intense debate on not only is the boost worth it on a personal level but also whether or not paid character boosts should be in the game at all.To get more news about buy wow tbc items, you can visit lootwowgold official website.

The answer to that question largely will depend on who's asking. There are obvious benefits to the boost from an individual player's perspective. But the question comes down to at what cost? Not only is the boost monetarily expensive for what players are getting, it's still unclear what widespread effects the Dark Portal Pass will have on the game as a whole when Burning Crusade Classic releases, particularly on the game's economy. For that reason, even if it may seem appealing, WoW: The Burning Crusade Classic's Dark Portal Pass might not be worth it in the long-run. Here's what the Dark Portal pass gets players in the short-term, and why it might not be worth it for the game's long-term health.

On a once-per-account basis, WoW players have the option of boosting one character to level 58 for $40. That boosted character will come equipped with green-quality gear, a small amount of gold, a basic mount and the riding skill to ride it, four 12-slot bags, weapon skills leveled up to their appropriate max rank for level 58, and certain flight paths to get around the world easier. The boost cannot be used Burning Crusade's new Blood Elf or Draenei characters.

What players are truly paying for is the ability to skip dozens of hours of leveling. While players certainly level quicker in the Burning Crusade pre-patch thanks to experience point requirements being overall reduced and quests rewarding more experience, it can still take players dozens, or even hundreds, of hours to get a new character to max level. Unfortunately, while Blizzard seemed to indicate the Dark Portal Pass was designed to give players who didn't play WoW Classic a chance to get ready for Burning Crusade Classic, veteran players with money to burn are also taking advantage of the level boost.

No doubt gold reselling services (technically illegal services where players can pay real money for in-game gold), will be having a heyday with the character boost, too. For a small fee, these farmers can save dozens of hours and simply jump straight to max level, where the most lucrative end-game resources become available. While the Dark Portal Pass is on a one-boost-per-account basis, there is no way this will stop gold resellers from abusing it, and Blizzard already struggles to ban these accounts. Restricting the boost to one per account will in no way prevent gold resellers from getting even easier access to their farming activities, flooding the market with more gold and doing more damage to WoW Classic's in-game economy.

It's a complex problem. In theory, allowing new players to level up quickly is good. However, the ramifications of making the boost accessible to all players will come with costs that will likely be felt in the long run. With more boosted profession alts for gold making and more bots taking advantage of the service for gold-selling purposes, it's hard to tell what the effect on the game's economy will be over the course of WoW: Burning Crusade Classic. Convivence services in some games can be great and relatively harm free, but in an MMO, where player actions determine the state of the game, paying money to save time (or paying real money for microtransactions and passes), can have a lasting negative impact that makes these services, including the Dark Portal Pass, do more harm than good.
